About

Computer and Communication Engineering (CCE) stands as the fundamental underpinning that enables the realms of computing and communication to exist and flourish. It serves as the pivotal intersection between computing (Software) and electronics (hardware), Serving as the cornerstone that enables the development of computing and communication capabilities.

While Computer Science students delve into programming and software aspects, those in Computer Engineering allocate their focus toward the intricate engineering of electronics and hardware, essential for the execution of software. Furthermore, Computer Engineering delves into hardware security and the intricacies of computer networks.

For individuals with a penchant for crafting components and systems intended for the upcoming generation of smartphones, Internet of Things, wearable electronics, robotics, security enhancements, healthcare innovations, and the facilitation of Artificial Intelligence at the edge, Computer and Communication Engineering stands as the apt domain to pursue.

CCE encompasses a broad spectrum of fields, encompassing Computer Architecture, FPGA, Wireless Sensor Networks, advanced communications and information systems, hardware and computer security, networks, multimedia processing and communications, software engineering, application development, embedded systems, artificial intelligence, chip design and more. The programs offered include BSc degrees in Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering with an optional concentration in Software Engineering, alongside MSc and PhD programs in CCE.

The research conducted in CCE is aligned with the 2030 Abu Dhabi strategic plan, which emphasizes the diversification of the economy beyond oil and gas. It champions innovation, entrepreneurship, and spinoffs in key sectors such as semiconductors, communication, and ICT. CCE faculty actively collaborate with various research centers within the University, focusing on areas like robotics, communications, semiconductors, security, among others. Moreover, frequent collaborations occur with esteemed local research laboratories and institutions worldwide.
