I am delighted to welcome you as Dean of the College of Computing and Mathematical Sciences. The College seeks innovation in not only teaching but also in research, and technology transfer services in the core disciplines of Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems and Networks.

The faculty at College of Computing and Mathematical Sciences are globally-renowned experts and have contributed significantly to the development of their fields at both the global and local level. Together, we aim to create an interdisciplinary, collaborative atmosphere to foster cutting edge research and facilitate knowledge-economy transformation, impacting positively the humanity and our environment.

In addition to the foundational research, the College engages with industry and government stakeholders to offer applied research, directly addressing contemporary challenges in the areas of information technology, secure cyber-physical systems, and complex system modeling. These collaborations have resulted in the development and upgrade of a cutting-edge research infrastructure that keeps the academic units at the forefront of their research domains and provides students with a unique educational experience.

Overview

The objective of the College of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at Khalifa University of Science and Technology is the development, teaching and exploitation of new knowledge, leading to the harmonic synergy between human talent and machine intelligence outlined in the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030. The College aims to help boosting the economic development of Abu Dhabi and of the region, providing the strong conceptual foundations, the innovative ideas and the talent pool that local industries need to grow in highly competitive areas such as intelligent devices, human-machine assistive collaboration, mobile networks and complex systems management.

The College of Computing and Mathematical Sciences is a highly interconnected community of top scholars, students and staff who are dedicated to deliver innovation and research-driven education in the key disciplines underlying the digital transformation, for the ultimate benefit of human society. The College is actively involved in supporting UAE national initiatives of talent pool development in all types of digital skills.

The College of Computing and Mathematical Sciences serves the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the UAE, and the world by providing students with an advanced education based on the paradigm of research-driven learning, empowering them to become the leaders in the evolution of computer science and digital technology. The College contributes to in the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 by conducting cutting edge fundamental, interdisciplinary and translational research in all strategic areas of computing and mathematical sciences

Khalifa University is proud to introduce its pilot Co-op Program, designed to provide our students with practical industry experience integrated into their academic journey. The program is launched in Fall 2025, with the first work-term scheduled for Summer 2026, aiming to prepare students to meet the demands of the evolving engineering and science sectors in the UAE and beyond.

About the Program

Introduction & Vision

The KU Co-op Program aims to integrate practical work experience into our students’ academic careers, fostering early industry engagement and skills development. Starting in 2025-26, students will participate in two paid work-terms of 26 weeks each, with opportunities to work locally and internationally, all aligned with their discipline.

  • Students will participate in 2 co-op work terms
  • Duration: Each co-op lasts 6 months (26 weeks)
  • 1st Co-op: Starts after completing 6 academic semesters scheduled during Summer and Fall semesters
  • 2nd Co-op starts after completing the 8th semester scheduled during Spring and Summer semesters

Applicants must have a minimum CGPA of 3.25, have completed at least 75 credits to apply, and 90 credits to begin their work term. Additionally, candidates must complete the career preparation course and pass an interview process. This ensures that only motivated and qualified students participate, giving them the best chance for success in both their academic and professional development.
