Khalifa University,
Abu Dhabi
Khalifa University’s Research & Innovation Center for Graphene and 2D Materials (RIC2D) in partnership with the Graphene Flagship will host the first joint symposium on “2D materials: technologies and industrial potential”. The event will enable key researchers and industry stakeholders from the UAE and Europe to share research results with promising application potential, explore collaboration opportunities and discuss incubation of joint ventures.
Funded by the European Commission in 2013, the Graphene Flagship has since fostered 2D materials’ research, innovation and commercialisation on an unprecedented scale, comprising competencies and collaboration among nearly 170 academic and industrial partners in 22 countries.
RIC2D is a newly established center focused on scientific development and commercial deployment of graphene and other layered (2D) materials. The center has several collaborative research and innovation projects underway with the University of Manchester’s Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC). RIC2D’s own Research and Innovation Fund offers financial support for collaborative research to the international scientific community.
With a variety of presentations by leading companies in the industry and researchers in academia, the event will serve as a networking opportunity between UAE’s academia and business and the European 2D materials’ industry.
