Dr. Hirose received her doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat.) in the field of Immunology and Autoimmune diseases from the University of Luebeck in Germany in 2011. Over the past 14 years, her research has focused on the role of natural variants in the mitochondrial genome and mitochondrial function in aging and age-related chronic inflammatory diseases (e.g., autoimmune and metabolic diseases), using experimental mouse models.
She joined Khalifa University in August 2025.
