Biography

Prof. Wael Zaki is a Full Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Khalifa University, where he leads the Smart & Architected Materials (SAM) lab. His research operates at the intersection of solid mechanics and advanced materials, with a focus on the constitutive modeling, fatigue analysis, and additive fabrication of shape memory alloys. His current work pioneers additive and hybrid manufacturing techniques for nitinol and its composites, developing novel biomedical and other high-tech applications. Prof. Zaki's scholarly impact has been recognized with Khalifa University’s Excellence in Research Award and his inclusion on Stanford University's list of the world's top 2% most-cited scientists. Prof. Zaki holds a Visiting Professor appointment at Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi'an.
