Dr. Randa is A postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering; she has over 13 years of experience in the development of advanced membranes. Her expertise spans both free-standing and supported membranes, with a focus on creating high-performance, cost-effective solutions for critical applications in water and energy. She has successfully developed thin-film composite membranes for large-scale seawater desalination using reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration. Additionally, she has engineered high-performance, selective, and cost-effective ion-selective membranes for energy harvesting through reverse electrodialysis and for water treatment via membrane capacitive deionization. Leveraging her expertise in nanocomposite and polymer technology, she specializes in providing scalable solutions for the energy and environmental sectors, including heavy metal removal and applications in oil and natural gas exploration. She has extensive experience in membrane characterization and electrochemical testing, and her innovative work has resulted in two filed patents.
