Biography

Dr. Ahmed Elmekawy is an accomplished professional with a distinguished genetic engineering and biotechnology background. He earned his PhD through a prestigious joint scholarship at North Carolina State University, USA, cementing his expertise in the field. With over 12 years of experience in both teaching and research since completing his doctorate, Dr. Elmekawy has established knowledge in various scientific domains.

Throughout his career, Dr. Elmekawy's passion for exploration and innovation has taken him to esteemed research institutions across the globe. His postdoctoral research spans positions in prominent establishments in Belgium, Australia, and the UAE, allowing him to cultivate an extensive knowledge base and expertise.

A visionary in his field, Dr. Elmekawy's research interests encompass a wide array of cutting-edge topics. These include graphene for wastewater treatment, bioelectrochemical devices for renewable energy, biochemistry, microbial genetics, bacterial nanotechnology, and microbial value-added products such as enzymes and biopolymers. His contributions in these areas have yielded numerous successes, making a significant impact on scientific progress.

Dr. Elmekawy has been involved in multiple fruitful collaborations with industrial partners, resulting in successful project completions. His dedication to advancing knowledge is evident in his publication record, which comprises 48 peer-reviewed articles, including 37 articles in esteemed Q1 journals, 5 conference papers, and 4 book chapters. Moreover, his innovative research has led to the filing of two US patents. With a remarkable H-index of 23 and a staggering 2669 citations, Dr. Elmekawy's work has been widely recognized and celebrated within the scientific community.

His influence extends beyond research, as he has also actively engaged in several teaching roles. Dr. Elmekawy has served as an instructor and assistant professor at both Suez Canal University and the University of Sadat City, imparting knowledge to undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has taught various courses covering topics in microbial biotechnology. His passion for teaching is evident in the development of comprehensive course syllabi, meticulously crafting learning outcomes, content, teaching methods, assessment techniques, and necessary facilities for 46 postgraduate courses.

Notably, in 2011, Dr. Elmekawy was appointed as an assistant professor at the University of Sadat City, where he contributed as a valuable member of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance (AQA) team within the Industrial Biotechnology Department. During this role, he showcased his expertise in building analytical labs.

As part of his commitment to advancing the bio-pesticide industry, Dr. Elmekawy served as a consultant, applying his deep knowledge to optimize the process parameters of industrial bioreactors, thus bolstering productivity and efficiency in this vital sector.
