Biography

Prof. Mokhtar Kirane received a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris 6, France in 1983, a Doctorat es Sciences Mathematiques from the University of Annaba, Algeria in 1990, and a Habilitation to conduct research from the University of Picardie, France, in 2000. He spent one year, 1987-1988, as a post-doc at the Istituto per le Applicazione del Calcolo (IAC) Mauro Picone of the CNR, Roma, and two years, 1992-1994, as a research fellow at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy. He became assistant, then associate professor in the Institute of Mathematics at the University of Annaba, 1988-1992. He served as the director of the Institute of Mathematics at the University of Annaba, 1990-1992. From 1994 to 2001, he worked at the University of Picardie as an associate professor (First Class: 01/09/1999-01/09/2001). In 2001, he joined La Rochelle University, France, as Professor (First Class: 01/09/2015-01/08/2020). He joined Khalifa University in August 2020 as Professor.

Dr Kirane initiated and coordinates the INTAS Project No 96-0915 (Brussels), funded under IC-INTAS. He also conducted a project with Qatar Foundation, participated in a project between the university of La Rochelle and University of Poitiers, France, participated in many projects with Abdulaziz University of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, participated in many projects with Sultane Qaboos University, Oman, participated in project with the University of Setif, Algeria, participated in projects with Peoples's Friendship University Moscow (RUDN), Russia.

Dr Kirane conducted at KU a reserch project on Nonlinear Schrodinger Equations of Higher Order. 

Dr Kirane's research interests are on Partial Differential Equations, Fractional Calculus, Inverse Problems, Image Processing and Biomathematics.

Dr Kirane has published 210+ papers, almost all of them in international journals that are ranked as top journals in Differential Equations, Fractional Calculus and Applied Mathematics. Dr Kirane participated in the organization of many international conferences; he also organized many sessions in important international conferences. 

Dr Kirane has been awarded an FDA Achievement Award at the ICFDA 18 International Conference on Fractional Differentiation and its Applications, Amann, Jordan, 2018, and a Riesz Award for High Achievement in Fractional Calculus, The First Online Conference on Modern Fractional Calculus and its Applications, Istanbul, Turkey, 2020.

Dr Kirane has supervised 20 PhD theses; all  his previous PhD students are employed as academics in Algeria, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Pakistan and Kazakstan.

Dr. Kirane is Editor in Chief of Fractional Differential Calculus, and editor of Fractional Differential Calculus and Applied Analysis, Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, the Mediterranean Journal of Mathematics, Mathematics (MDPI), Fractal and Fractional (MDPI), Evolution Equations and Control Theory, etc.

  • Global existence and large time behaviour of Partial Differential Equations; Blowing-up solution of Partial Differential Equations; Inverse Problems for classical differential equations, differential equations with involutions, differential equations with fractional derivatives image processing using fractional calculus, Qualitative properties of solutions of systems from epidemiology. .
