Biography

Kotb B. Tawfiq received the Ph.D. degree in electromechanical engineering from Ghent University, Belgium, in 2022. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Menoufia University, Egypt, in 2013 and 2016, respectively. He is an Associate Editor at IEEE Transactions on Industry Application since June 2025. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Researcher with Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE. He is an assistant professor, on leave, at the Faculty of Engineering, Menoufia University, Egypt, and a Post-Doctoral Researcher, on leave, with Ghent University, Belgium. His main field of interest includes power electronics, matrix converters, renewable energy, electrical machines drive, design, and control of electrical machines.  He serves as a reviewer in several journals and conferences, including IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification, IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, etc. He also serves as a guest editor in special issues in Electronics, Mathematics, and Machines journals. He is the recipient of the Machines 2023 Best Journal Paper Award.
