Dr. anugrah ilahi

Biography

Anugrah Ilahi is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Khalifa University, United Arab Emirates. His research focuses on transportation planning, agent-based model, travel behaviour modelling, public transport accessibility, and sustainable urban mobility, with particular emphasis on equity and active transportation in rapidly growing cities, including those in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

Dr. Ilahi holds a Doctor of Science (Dr. sc. ETH Zurich) in Transport Planning and Systems from ETH Zurich, Switzerland. His doctoral research advanced large-scale agent-based transport modelling for megacities, integrating multimodal travel behaviour and pricing policies, with case studies in the Global South. He also earned a Master of Science in Transport Systems and Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia 

Before joining Khalifa University, Dr. Ilahi held academic and research positions at BOKU University (Austria), ETH Zurich (Switzerland), and United Arab Emirates University, and worked as a transport expert and consultant with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). His work has supported transport policy development, public transport reform, and industry–academic collaboration.

Dr. Ilahi has published extensively in leading international journals and regularly serves as a reviewer for transportation and urban studies journals. He is actively involved in teaching, supervision of PhD students, and international academic service, and frequently delivers invited and keynote lectures worldwide. His research aims to support evidence-based transport policy and the development of inclusive, sustainable urban mobility systems
