Biography

Antonello Maruotti’s activity is about methods for time-dependent (longitudinal and time series) data analysis and statistical models for environmental and health problems.

His methodological results concern proposals in the areas of statistical modelling, on the frontier between statistics and mathematics, statistical computing and applied statistics. The interaction between these areas is provided in part by latent variable models, in which he obtained several important results.

With reference to environmental problems, his scientific production is about the development of finite mixtures and hidden Markov models and methods for air quality and marine data, and their impact on human health and health care utilization and demand. Some contributions on nowcasting, forecasting and statistical methods to govern the COVID-19 epidemic are also characterized his recent research activity.

He is currently developing research both with Italian and foreign (British, Norwegian, German and Canadian) scholars. He is active also in promoting contacts with institutions interested in developing new policies based on statistical analyses.
