Dr. Rohan B. Ambade is a Research Scientist in Aerospace Engineering at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE. He previously worked as a Research Professor and Postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Organic and NanoEngineering, Hanyang University, Seoul, Republic of Korea, from 2017 to 2023. Dr. Rohan holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Pune, India, a Master's degree (2012), and Ph.D. honors (2017) in Chemical Engineering from Chonbuk National University, Jeonju, Republic of Korea. During his tenure as a Research Professor, he has taught several undergraduate and graduate courses, including Introduction to Quantum Chemistry, Nano Engineering, and Organic Nano Analysis at Hanyang University, Seoul, Republic of Korea. Dr. Rohan received several fellowships and funding, which have allowed him to make significant strides in his research from esteemed institutions such as Hanyang University, Chonbuk National University, Ministry of Science, ICT & Future Planning Korea, Program of the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT), BrainKorea21, National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), US Army, DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory, BM Holding USA.
His research interests include designing advanced nanostructured materials such as 2D Graphene, carbides and nitrides (MXenes), Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), hexagonal boron nitride (hBN), and functional materials. Additionally, he is intrigued by carbon-based hybrid materials, conducting polymers, surface modifications of inorganic materials, and fiber-based flexible, wearable electrode materials for energy storage and conversion devices, with a pronounced emphasis on batteries, supercapacitors, and Nanogenerators. Another thrust area of my research is developing functional nanomaterials for sensors (electrochemical and gas sensors), solar cells (Organic solar cells, DSSCs), photocatalysis, and CO2 reduction is another thrust area of my research. Furthermore, he has a sound research background in electrochemistry, photochemistry, and surface chemistry for various applications.
Dr. Rohan has published book chapters and several research articles in some of the most prestigious and high-impact peer-reviewed SCI journals, including Nature Communications, Nano Energy, Advanced Functional Materials, Accounts of Materials Research, Chemical Engineering Journal, Small, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Carbon, Materials Horizons, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, and many more.
