Biography

Professor Mahmoud Meribout received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Technology of Compiegne (Sorbone Universities), Compiegne, France, in January 1995. He was with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, and NEC Corporation, Tokyo (Japan), from 1995 to 2000, where he was involved in several projects related to embedded systems design and hardware accelertors targeting machine vision and AI. In 1998, he received the NTT Best Award for his research and development efforts for designing and building a highly parallel architecture based on an in house built highly parallel processor controlled by a set of FPGA. In 2008, he joined the Electrical Engineering Department, Petroleum Institute (now Khalifa University of Science & Technology, Abu Dhabi,, UAE), where he is currently a full Professor. His current research interests focusses on real-time imaging systems (THz, MPI, optical, electrical, and magnetic tomography), sensor systems and instrumentation, multiphase flow metering, and hardware accelerators/emedded systems for AI and machine vision.
