SCHOLARSHIPS FOR UAE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Khalifa University provides competitive, merit-based scholarship programs to attract and support outstanding graduate students demonstrating academic excellence, innovation, and leadership. These scholarships enable talented individuals from the UAE and around the world to contribute to advanced research and address global challenges in science, engineering, computing, and health, while advancing the University’s mission in research, innovation, and community engagement.
Awards are based on academic achievement, research potential, field of study, and alignment with the University’s strategic priorities. Recipients are expected to maintain strong academic standing, with continued eligibility subject to CGPA and program progression requirements.
Master’s Scholarships
Khalifa University offers scholarships to eligible master’s students. To be considered, applicants should indicate their interest in scholarship support when submitting their admission application. Depending on the scholarship awarded, benefits may include:
- Full or partial tuition fee coverage
- Textbooks
- Accommodation
- Medical insurance
- Visa processing support and travel assistance to/from the UAE (for students residing abroad)
PhD Scholarships
Khalifa University offers highly competitive, merit-based PhD scholarships to outstanding students. Applicants should indicate their interest in scholarship consideration when submitting their admission application. Depending on the scholarship awarded, benefits may include:
- Full or partial tuition fee coverage
- Monthly stipend
- Enrollment in pension (UAE national only)
- Textbooks
- Accommodation
- Medical insurance
- Visa processing support and travel assistance to/from the UAE (for students residing abroad)
- Support for participation in conferences (subject to funding)
- International research internship (subject to funding)
- Teaching experience and career development
Combined Master PhD Research Teaching Scholarship (CMDRTS) for UAE Nationals
- UAE national students who wish to apply for the Combined Master’s–PhD Scholarship must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 in their bachelor’s degree to be considered for admission.
- After completing the MSc program, students must achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.25 out of 4.0 in their master’s degree to be eligible for consideration for the PhD program.
- During the master’s period, which typically lasts one year, students will receive a full tuition fee waiver only. No stipend will be provided during the master’s stage.
- Students who meet the PhD admission requirements and are accepted into the program will be considered for one of the standard PhD scholarships, which include a full tuition fee waiver and a stipend.
- The program is full-time.
- Students must apply to start the PhD program immediately after completing the Master’s program.
China Scholarship Council – Khalifa University Joint PhD Scholarship
CHINA SCHOLARSHIP COUNCIL – KHALIFA UNIVERSITY JOINT PHD SCHOLARSHIP
Khalifa University of Science and Technology (KU), in collaboration with the China Scholarship Council (CSC), offers the CSC- KU Scholarship to highly qualified Chinese nationals admitted to PhD in Engineering or Science on a full-time basis.
CSC-KU Scholarship Benefits
- Monthly stipend of 9,200 AED provided by Khalifa University.
- Additional stipend provided by CSC.
- Mobilization and demobilization flights (between China and Abu Dhabi) provided by CSC.
- Full coverage of Khalifa University tuition fees.
- Free Khalifa University accommodation (or accommodation assistance of up to AED 2,000 per month if University accommodation is not available).
- Textbooks provided by Khalifa University.
- Coverage of UAE visa application fees for full-time international students
- Medical insurance coverage for full-time international students sponsored by Khalifa University.
- Support to attend international research conferences, subject to Khalifa University approval.
Application
- Apply online for the PhD program at Khalifa University
- After receiving the admission offer letter from Khalifa University, candidates must also apply to CSC by completing an application for funding and employer reference (forms are available online at http://apply.csc.edu.cn).
Scholarship Eligibility
To be eligible an applicant must:
- Be a citizen of the People’s Republic of China at the time of applying.
- Be approved for unconditional admission to a PhD program at Khalifa University.
- Have official approval for a scholarship award from CSC prior to first registration at Khalifa University.
Duration
- The PhD scholarship is awarded to successful applicants for up to a maximum of four academic years.
- Applications are available for the Fall semester only. The application deadline is February 10 of the same academic year.
Other Terms and Conditions
To continue to receive the CSC-KU Scholarship the student must:
- Register as a full-time student every semester, including the summer term.
- Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 out of 4 during his/her study at Khalifa University.
- Comply with the policies, rules and regulations of Khalifa University.
