The Research Laboratories Department at Khalifa University is dedicated to aligning the University’s research infrastructure with its strategic research priorities. Through a coordinated network of research institutes, centers, and organized research units, the Department supports faculty, researchers, and students in conducting world-class scientific inquiry and technological innovation.
Central to this effort are the Core Research Laboratories; large-scale, centrally managed facilities operated by the Department and staffed by expert technical professionals. Khalifa University provides full support for capital investments, operational expenses, safety, and training, ensuring the laboratories operate at the highest international standards of quality and performance.

The Surface and Material Sciences (SMS) Core Laboratory is a state-of-the-art research facility equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced analytical instruments designed for detailed surface, structural and compositional characterization of materials. The laboratory supports a wide range of field applications including materials science and engineering, chemistry and catalysis, environmental and geosciences, mechanical and civil engineering, life sciences and biomaterials, as well as electronics and energy research.

The Analytical Chemistry and Biochemistry (ACBC) Core Laboratory is a state-of-the-art analytical facility dedicated to supporting sample preparation, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and molecular characterization of both small and large molecules. The lab underpins research and development across a wide range of sectors, including food safety, pharmaceuticals, forensics, environmental sciences, biopharmaceuticals, metabolomics, and elemental analysis.
