The NAVAMASK is a new generation, sustainable and environmentally-friendly facemask made with a bio-based polymer (poly lactic acid, PLA) that can be composted and integrated back into our ecosystem. Available as one-time disposable or reusable mask, the masks are invented and designed by researchers at Khalifa University.
Made by electrospinning a bio-based polymer into ultrafine fibers, which are then coated by antimicrobial compounds extracted from medicinal plants, such as black seed, anise, turmeric, lion’s mane mushroom, and aloe, known to be effective against bacteria and viruses, NAVAMASK blocks bacteria, particles, viruses, dust, haze, smoke, automobile exhaust, and more. The presence of monolaurin (which is derived from raw coconut) and zinc provides additional antibacterial/antiviral and immune boosting properties as well as maintaining clear skin, reducing acne, and preventing infection. Khalifa University has a US patent pending application on the mask filtration material.
The NAVAMASK is designed to protect us from both the spread of viruses and the negative environmental impacts of commercially available plastic-based facemasks. ALL models of NAVAMASK have received the UAE Certification of Conformity and is registered under the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS).
The BIOFB99 NAVAMASK is a professional, durable and disposable facemask with an adjustable nose bridge that comfortably fits the contours of the face, enabling smooth breathing without resistance.
The BIOFP98 NAVAMASK is the world’s first FFP2 face mask based on PLA material. It is a new generation of the 3D ergonomic design that is simple, dynamic, featuring a smooth modern design. It shows a terrific performance in terms of filtration efficiency and breathability far beyond the standards.
The BIOPP99 NAVAMASK is a thin and lightweight washable and reusable facemask. Its 3D ergonomic design allows the wearer to speak and breathe comfortably without feeling restricted or blocked.
