UAE operators of electricity, communication and other infrastructure, academics and disaster management agencies are invited to a workshop to discuss the risk to UAE critical infrastructure from space weather. Graduate student Alia Al Hazami will lead the workshop as part of her Master’s in International and Civil Security, under Dr. Athol Yates, Institute of International and Civil Security.

Space weather can seriously disrupt power grids, pipelines, transportation and communication and radar among other important infrastructure assets. The workshop aims to build an assessment of space weather risks and mitigation measures.
