Decreasing PTSD in First Responders: No Battery Necessary

February 11, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a common psychological/psychiatric condition often observed in first responders such as the police and those in law enforcement. However, this patient group does not respond well to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and medication tends to suppress symptoms rather than address them.

This brief seminar is an introduction to biofeedback/neurofeedback and an alternate psychological approach based on breathing patterns and mindfulness training, which have shown promise in addressing PTSD not only in first responders but for patients that have had severe trauma experiences in their lives.
