My research has focused on the development and application of biomechanical models to address clinical issues. It has been my aim to create models that can realistically depict and simulate the movements of the human body, and to use them to learn about disease prevention and treatment. As such, my main research projects has been centred on using Finite Element and/or Musculoskeletal models to simulate the stresses experienced by the lumbar spine in everyday tasks, for the purpose of better understanding aetiology, treatment, and susceptibility to low back pain.
