Prof. Ji holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Master degree in Manufacturing Engineering, both from China, and a PhD in Industrial Engineering from USA. Prior to joining Khalifa University, he worked in Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) over 27 years. He also worked in National University of Singapore and GINTIC Institute of Manufacturing Technology, Singapore for a few years after he received his PhD from Department of Industrial Engineering, West Virginia University, USA, in 1991. For research, he has been working in the area of Operations Management, particularly, optimization and its applications, and has published over 160 SCI journal papers, and is one of the top 2% world scientists recognized by Stanford University in recent years. He has supervised dozens of research students and research assistants. His research students work in different places around the world, including USA, Australia, Hong Kong, United Nations, and mainland China. For teaching, he received high SFQ (Student Feedback Questionnaire) Awards over 10 times. For administration, he held the program leader of Master of Science in Industrial Logistics Systems, a theme group leader, the Director of MESC (Microsoft Enterprise Systems Centre) in PolyU. He also served in the university senate committee for a couple of years in PolyU.
