Biography

Mohamed Aslam has worked in academia as well as industrial services. From 2015 to 2017, he worked in Abu Dhabi as a Consulting Specialist for Environmental Instrumentation and Testing businesses. Prior to joining Khalifa University in 2021, he was a Laboratory Teaching Instructor and Researcher in the Department of Chemical and Material Sciences Engineering at the University of Auckland, New Zealand.

Mohamed is a separation technologist trained on instruments such as Spectrometers (UV/Vis, FTIR), Chromatography Systems (GC-MS, RP-HPLC, ICP-MS), XRD, SEM, AFM, DSC, TGA, etc. He finds interest in working closely with students to demonstrate experiments and the use of instruments besides supporting the faculty with lectures and research projects.

Research Interests
  • • Targeted syntheses of porous polymeric materials with predefined properties to be applied in filtration technology (water, air, food).
  • • Purification of high salinity water by direct contact liquid-liquid crystallisation techniques.
  • • Fine chemical synthesis from industrial waste materials via Phase Transfer Catalysis (Green technology).
