Madikay is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology. He joined Khalifa University after completing postdoctoral training at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics. There he centered his work on studying genomic epidemiology of infectious disease. He uses genomics to answer important epidemiological questions such as, who infected whom in an outbreak. Broadly, his work asks how do changes in the bacterial population structure impact infectious disease dynamics. His works have been published in prestigious International Journals and he has been the recipient of prestigious awards including the Robert Austrian Research Award.
