Dr. Irshad Kammakakam received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Incheon National University, South Korea in 2015. During this period, Dr. Kammakakam has successively developed many novel ionic liquid-based polymers with extraordinary CO2 separation performance under Korea CCS2020 Program. Later, as a Visiting Scientist (2015-2017) at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), South Korea, and a Postdoc (2017-2018) at the European Institute of Membranes (IEM) at the University of Montpellier, France, he has developed several innovative materials for separation technology, particularly for olefin/paraffin and water filtration applications. Dr. Kammakakam also worked as a Postdoc (2018-2021) at the University of Alabama, USA, where he was leading two main projects for DOE and NASA on “Design and Synthesis of Ionic-polymers for Gas Separation Membranes as well as Shape-memory and Self-healing Applications”. Before joining Khalifa University, Dr. Kammakakam worked at KAUST, Saudi Arabia as a postdoc (2021-2022) and developed many advanced polymeric as well as inorganic hybrid membranes for various applications.
