Biography

Professor Emrah Demir is a visiting professor at the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Khalifa University. He works as a professor of operational research at Cardiff University (Wales) where he has worked since 2016. Prior to these positions, Emrah worked as an assistant professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology. Emrah holds BEng and MSc degrees in Industrial Engineering from Baskent University, and a PhD in Management Science from University of Southampton. His research interests are positioned within the areas of green logistics and operational research. His current interests include last mile logistics, vehicle routing problems, road freight decarbonisation, and machine learning. He has published in a wide range of academic and industry journals and obtained a number of research grants from different funding bodies. Emrah has the following editorial roles: Area Editor of Journal of Heuristics; Associate Editor of IMA Journal of Management Mathematics; Associate Editor of Frontiers in Future Transportation - Freight Transport and Logistics; and Associate Editor of OR Spectrum Journal.
