Professor, Department of Mathematics

Dr. Partha Guha is an Indian Mathematical Physicist and Applied Mathematician. His primary research interest involves Integrable Systems, Geometrical Mechanics, and Nonlinear Dynamics. He did his undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral studies in Physics at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India.

After receiving the Nehru Centenary British Fellowship (Common-Wealth fellowship) in 1990, he went to study Mathematics at Oxford University. During his first year, he was a graduate student of Sir Roger Penrose, after which he shifted to Sir Simon Donaldson's group and completed his doctoral thesis on holomorphic vector bundles under his guidance. He spent a considerable amount of time in various top-ranking research institutes, like Max Planck Institute, RIMS-Kyoto, ICMAT-Madrid, etc. across the globe. He is a frequent visitor of Institute Des Hautes Études Scientifiques (HES). He was a permanent faculty with S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences from 1997-2020 (July).
