Nicholas Cochrane-Dyet to talk about his book: Early Days in the Emirates
Nick Cochrane-Dyet joined his Godfather Colonel Sir Hugh Boustead in 1975 for a gap year after school that became five of the most enjoyable and informative years of his life managing the President of the UAE’s Royal Stud Farm in Miziad, outside Al Ain in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. He had been associated with the Emirates since childhood when his father was posted to Abu Dhabi with the Trucial Oman Scouts in 1965 and lived in Jahili Fort in Al Ain.
Encouraged by Sheikh Zayed to broaden his experiences, Nick joined the Brigade of Gurkhas in the Far East for five years before returning to the Emirates, and a warm welcome back by the Founding Father, when he joined Citibank in 1985. He joined BP in 1988 and is based in Abu Dhabi as the Special Advisor.
He is the Chairman of the British Business Group in Abu Dhabi promoting bilateral trade and relationships between the UAE and the UK and in his spare time Nick enjoys travel, both locally and internationally, meeting people and walking. He was awarded the MBE in the 2013 New Year’s Honors.
