Biography

Dr. Hanifa AlBlooshi is an Assistant Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at Khalifa University. She earned her PhD degree from the UAE University in June 2014. Her PhD and MSc research work both focused on the enzymatic production of biodiesel from lipids extracted from different feed stock using supercritical carbon dioxide, and developing and integrated production process. During her MSc and PhD studies, Dr. AlBlooshi was appointed as a graduate teaching assistant and researcher, respectively, at UAE University. In addition, she was a visiting scholar at the Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia, USA, during that time. In March 2015, Dr. AlBlooshi joined Masdar Institute (now Khalifa University)

Dr. AlBlooshi research interested are mainly in biochemical engineering fields, where her research works resulted in the publication over 45 papers in  in reputed journals, and his current Scopus h-index is 18. She also has one patent under her name and published two book and four book chapters. She is the recipient of International Raising Talents for Women in Science award and LOREAL-UNISCO fellowship and both Young Emirati Researcher Prize and Innovation Award from MOE. Majority of Dr. Hanifa research has been on using enzymes, green solvents and microalgae from biodiesel production, oil spills remediation and wastes valorization and circular bioeconomy. 

Dr. AlBlooshi has reviewed a number of research articles submitted for publication to international journals including Biomass and Bioenergy, Fuel, the Journal of Supercritical Fluids, and other waste management journals. In addition, she was a member in the organizing committees of several events.
