Brief Description

The Senior Specialist for Patient Safety is responsible for the content and delivery of Patient Safety Education and Research working in collaboration with the Clinical Skills Strand Leader.

Detailed Description
  • Participates in the education and training of health care professionals in developing skills that enhance safe patient care. 
  • Develops and provides education and resources to train health care professionals in patient safety and risk management concerns. 
  • Develops programs that enhance clinical decision-making for health care professionals in patient safety education and research.
  • Investigates, analyzes, and develops education and training strategies for quality/patient safety issues, events, significant care issues, or trends in surveillance, data reporting and regulatory/accreditation requirements.
  • Develops, implements, and analyzes the impact of education curriculum for patient safety and risk management. 
  • Provides education and research about risk for exposure of harm/potential harm to patients, root cause analysis, proximate cause analysis, and proactive risk assessments. 
  • Identifies improvements related to patient safety and prevention of harm through the use of education and training strategies for health care professionals. 
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on internal and external patient safety matters.
  • Adhere to the University’s information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly.
  • Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed. 
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
Job Requirements
  • Master’s Degree in Healthcare related field
  • Clinical Qualification (e.g., Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, Nurse practitioner, MD, MBBS)
  • Record reflecting excellence in education, healthcare, clinical practice, research, and/or administration. 
  • Expats: A minimum 7 years of relevant experience. 
  • UAE Nationals: A minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
