Khalifa University is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Assistant Professor of Bioinformatics. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our dynamic and multidisciplinary team, contributing to both our research and teaching missions. This position offers an opportunity to engage in cutting-edge bioinformatics research and to educate the next generation of scientists in a thriving academic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Research:
- Conduct high-impact bioinformatics research, focusing on the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data, transcriptomics, metagenomics and proteomics and structural bioinformatics and their applications in precision medicine and health sciences.
- Secure external funding to support research activities and contribute to the university's strategic research goals.
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
- Foster collaborations within the university and with international research partners to advance bioinformatics research initiatives.
Teaching:
- Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in bioinformatics and related fields.
- Supervise and mentor undergraduate, master’s, and PhD students, guiding their research projects and academic development.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a closely related field from a reputable institution.
- Demonstrated expertise in bioinformatics research, with a strong track record of research publications in high-impact journals.
- Experience in teaching and course development in bioinformatics of both graduate and undergraduate levels and interest in mentoring graduate students.
- Proficiency in programming languages and bioinformatics tools such as Python, R, and high-performance computing platforms and proficiency in working with LINUX OS.
- Experience with large, population scale genomic datasets (NGS, OMICs), structural bioinformatics, data mining, and data analysis).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
