KU students at the International 2025 CERN Summer Student Programme

July 8, 2026

Khalifa University students are increasingly visible in top-tier international research environments, and few places reflect that momentum as clearly as CERN. Through CERN’s Summer Student Program, KU undergraduates gain first-hand experience in cutting-edge particle physics, accelerator technologies, and detector systems, working alongside international research teams on challenging, real-world research projects.

Last summer, our KU physics students participated in this outstanding program. Nouf Al Shamsi worked on the ATLAS Electron Trigger System, while Fatima Fikri focused on applications of machine learning in the search for dark photons from the Higgs boson.

This summer, KU is preparing a new cohort of students to participate in the program, where they will work on detector technologies and performance studies. Stay tuned!
