More Than 300 Delegates and Experts Convene in Abu Dhabi to Explore Advances in Preventive Medicine, Clinical Research and Healthier Aging
Khalifa University of Science and Technology inaugurated the fourth Healthy Longevity Symposium, with more than 300 delegates and 30 distinguished speakers gathering in Abu Dhabi for the flagship event of its College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS).
Organized in collaboration with the Institute for Healthier Living – Abu Dhabi, the two-day Symposium focuses on translating scientific discoveries into evidence-based approaches that support health and quality of life across the lifespan. The event also highlights the growing importance of interdisciplinary research, clinical collaboration and physician education in advancing longevity medicine.
Held under the themes ‘Innovating for Healthy Longevity: Empowering Families Across the Life Course’ and ‘Translating Longevity Science into Prevention and Practice,’ the Symposium provides a platform for examining how emerging research can address population-health priorities, strengthen preventive care and contribute to the UAE’s ambitions for a more proactive, research-driven healthcare system.
Professor Bayan Sharif, Provost, Khalifa University, inaugurated the Symposium, highlighting the importance of bridging the gap between scientific discovery and clinical impact in longevity medicine. He noted that as understanding of aging continues to evolve, collaboration across disciplines is essential to translate research breakthroughs into practical healthcare solutions that improve quality of life and support healthier aging in communities worldwide.
Professor Habiba Alsafar, Dean, (CHMS), said: “As longevity science advances, the priority is to ensure that scientific discoveries translate into meaningful improvements in health and clinical care. Through this symposium, we are connecting researchers, clinicians and emerging scientists to exchange evidence, examine new approaches to prevention and strengthen the scientific collaborations needed to advance healthier aging. For Khalifa University, this reflects our commitment to research that responds to evolving healthcare needs in the UAE and beyond.”
Khalifa University faculty are contributing to the scientific program, reflecting the College of Medicine and Health Sciences’ engagement in research spanning public health, metabolic health and clinical medicine. Dr. Mira Mousa, Assistant Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology, moderated a panel on health span trials, while Dr. José Eduardo Galgani Fuentes, Associate Professor of Medical Sciences, presented on biological susceptibility to weight gain. Professor Ayman Al Hendy, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, also participated as a panel speaker.
International speakers include Professor Valter Longo of the University of Southern California, Dr. David L. Katz of the Institute for Healthier Living – Abu Dhabi, Professor Luigi Fontana of the University of Sydney and Professor Andrea Maier of the National University of Singapore.
The symposium also provides opportunities for emerging researchers to present their work through six invited oral presentations and student awards, supporting scientific exchange and the development of the next generation of healthcare researchers.
Now in its fourth edition, the Healthy Longevity Symposium reinforces Khalifa University’s role in connecting scientific research, clinical expertise and international collaboration to advance evidence-based approaches to healthier aging and preventive healthcare.
