Khalifa University Students Prepare to Lead Exciting MedCamp 2014

Special camp will host UAE students in Grades 10 and 11 interested in medicine

Twenty five Khalifa University science and engineering students are volunteering their personal time to become trained and skilled as certified Student Facilitators for MedCamp 2014. These students will lead this exciting summer program in order to inspire and educate Medcamp participants in the field of medical and health sciences. 

MedCamp 2014 is a unique summer camp designed to immerse grade 10 and 11 high school students into the exciting world of medicine through innovative activities.   

“The best assets of any university are their students. We understand this and desire to showcase our highly knowledgeable and capable young students as role models to our campers who will in turn aspire to be just like them. To ensure expertise our students have volunteered their time to learn hands-on every activity that will be presented during MedCamp” stated Dr. Rashed Al Nuaimi Executive Director College of Medicine and Health Sciences Planning Team. 

The purpose of MedCamp is to provide a learning experience for high school students so they may become aware of the wide range of professional opportunities within the field of medical and health sciences such as doctor nurse allied health specialties sports medicine forensics Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) laboratory researcher and other medical and health sciences professions. 

“Our goal is to ensure as much as possible that our young scholars make informed decisions as to what they desire to pursue as a career and if they choose a profession within medical and health science then this is great. We will know they made an informed choice amongst multiple opportunities increasing the probability of professional satisfaction that will result in career path continuation and advancement within their chosen career field.” explained Dr. Rashed. 

The camp will be run by Khalifa University students and faculty as well as feature local doctors and healthcare practitioners who will present seminars to the participants.
