Khalifa University Holds Successful Career Day for Students

Khalifa University held a special career day for students on January 26 2015 at the Adu Dhabi campus. The event hosted over 45 organizations from Abu Dhabi and Dubai and gave them the opportunity to meet with interested students and discuss possible employment and internships.

Some of the organizations represented included:Global Aerospace Logistics Healthpoint Hospital Strata Lloyd’s Register Thuraya Telecommunication Turbine Services & Solutions KEO International Consultants the National Petroleum Company (NPCC) and Schlumberger.

The event was designed so that students and organizations could benefit from discussions revolving around potential sponsorships internships and employment post-graduation. The organizations had an opportunity to meet with high quality Khalifa University students and get an assessment of how the University operates while exploring avenues for possible collaboration and support.

There were also presentations by various organizations including a talks on “5 Steps to U.S. Study” by Haya Al Satari the Educational Advisor for EducationUSA “Skills Required in the Workplace” by Gaby Abi Aad Country Manager for NCR and “Working in the Private Sector A Perspective from a %100 Locally Owned Technology Company” by Salem AL Shamsi Head of Sales Marketing and Business Development for SecureTech LLC. Other presentations highlighted industry/sector opportunities and internship possibilities by companies like Global Aerospace Logistics DIEHL and Schlumberger.

“Career Fairs like this one we organized at Khalifa University are important because they provide our students with opportunities to liaise directly with industry leaders ” said Dr. Tod Laursen Khalifa University’s President. “It’s not just about creating a chance for our students to meet with potential employers although that is a focus it’s also about providing our students with opportunities to discuss important aspects of their education like internship opportunities and sponsorship. Khalifa University is dedicated to providing our students with the best education possible and that would not be possible without close ties to industry.”
