Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim Director General Telecommunications Regulatory Authority Dr. Tod Laursen Khalifa University’s President Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi Khalifa University’s Executive Vice President and Dr. Mohammed Al Mualla Khalifa University’s Senior Vice President for Research and Development.

In a speech before the audience H.E. Dr. Mugheer said: “I had the honor to work with and learn from the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who worked on the basis of delegation and responsibility. He used to support people but also hold them accountable. Principles like this fit anywhere and to any kind of work in my opinion. My work with the Late Sheikh Zayed had to do with the community and preserving the environment. We’ve worked on a number of programs to preserve the environment. Marine creatures and nature require our attention because the human fingerprint is the largest on the environment. I hope that students think about wildlife when they work on any projects in the future.”

Addressing students he also added: “The UAE has to transition from an oil-based economy to a knowledge-based economy as soon as possible. Many countries rely on human resources and for us you are the future as the UAE needs more leaders. Every citizen is very important for our country and I hope that each of you moves at double speed because the UAE depends on you and your skills this is our goal and our hope.”

Dr. Tod Laursen Khalifa University President said in his address: “I am proud to have the opportunity to celebrate the many achievements of our students faculty and staff. Just focusing on our students in the past period we’ve had students take the top places in several national computing competitions including the m-Government awards we’ve had students place highly in local mathematics competitions and we’ve had a student place first at the recent Hackathon programming contest. It’s really becoming the norm here at Khalifa University that our students consistently place highly in competitions whether they’re working on satellites Design/Build/Fly competitions automotive competitions formula cars Baja racers IEEE competitions you name it. We see examples of achievements in our midst every day and every day we see how are students are challenging themselves and their hard work is being rewarded with external recognition. That’s why we are so pleased to be able to recognize them and award them for their hard work with an event like Leadership Day.”
