High School Students Experience the World of Robotics, Programming, Electronics and more at STEM Summer Camp

Khalifa University hosted innovative camp for the second year in a row.

Khalifa University’s Abu Dhabi campus played host to an excited group of grade 10 11 and 12 students during its innovative week long Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Camp held from August 16 – 20. The week wrapped up with an exciting “Robo” Competition which saw the students showcase the robots they had built during the course of the camp.

During Building the robot at STEM Camp organized by Khalifa UniversityThe engaging STEM camp which has been running since 2014 is designed as a platform to inspire high school students interested in pursuing a career in engineering or the technology sector. Over the course of the week the students were required to design and build their own robot which they used in the competition. In addition the students had the opportunity to learn and have fun through hands on activities revolving around robotics mechanics electronics chemistry programming design math arts and physics.

“It’s always wonderful to see how much young students enjoy science and technology focused summer camps ” said Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi Khalifa University’s Executive Vice President. “The popularity of this camp amongst the youth is certainly a good sign that the UAE has come a long way in fostering a culture of innovation and creating an interest in science and technology among students who are the future industry leaders.”

Khalifa University offers a variety of undergraduate programs in engineering including Aerospace Biomedical Communications Computer Electrical and Electronic Mechanical which recently achieved ABET accreditation and Civil and Industrial and Systems Engineering as well as an undergraduate degree in Advanced Mathematics and Statistics with optional concentrations in Financial Mathematics and Mathematical Biology. In addition the University always offers a variety of graduate degrees at the Master’s and PhD level.
