Graduate Students to Showcase Research at KU-Organized Event

Research conference allows graduate students to share research with peers from the UAE and around the world.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khalifa University and the Abu Dhabi Education Council are organizing the UAE Graduate Students Research Conference 2015 (UAEGSRC) to be held at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr March 22–24 2015. The interdisciplinary forum will allow Master’s and PhD students from across the UAE and the world to showcase their research pursuits and seek collaboration from their peers.

The Conference will focus on four main fields: the Arts Humanities and Social Sciences; Clinical Pre-Clinical and Health; Life Sciences; and Engineering and Physical Sciences. Research papers have been submitted in the various categories exploring areas as diverse as cultural and family studies education Diabetes and Cardiovascular disease nutrition and health biochemistry and biotechnology micro and nano systems and nuclear engineering in addition to many more specializations. Top papers will be awarded for innovation and creativity.

During the conference there will be opportunities for graduate students to share their research work and initiatives with each other and receive scholarly feedback in addition to being able to network with various sectors of industry government and academia. There will also be chances for students to explore research options and explore funding opportunities.

There will also be presentations by influential keynote speakers from around the world including one on the hot topic of BioRobotics by Prof. Paolo Dario from the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Italy. Other keynote speakers include H.E. Mr. Homaid Al Shemmari Chief Executive Officer of Aerospace & Engineering Services at Mubadala who will talk about career opportunities for graduate students; Dr. Alison Burdett Chief Technology Officer from the Toumaz Group UK who will discuss ultra-low-power semiconductors for wireless patient monitoring; and Prof. Eugenio Oñate professor of structural mechanics from the Technical University of Catalonia Spain who will talk about current and future trends in numerical methods of engineering.
