EBTIC to Hold Innovation and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Promising School Students

Bridging the gap between invention and business skills.

Under the patronage of His Excellency Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi UAE’s Minister of Education the Etisalat BT Innovation Center (EBTIC) established in partnership with Khalifa University is organizing an exciting event for young innovators April 5 to 7 2015 at Khalifa University’s Abu Dhabi campus. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship “Bootcamp” seeks to provide students interested in science and technology careers with essential information about the innovation process business development commercialization skills entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property (IP) issues.

The “Bootcamp” program was created by BT in Ireland and comes to the UAE from Dublin where it has successfully been run as the BT Young Scientist Business Bootcamp for the past six years.

Promising school students have already been chosen to attend from a cadre of high-achieving Emirati youths. The camp will teach how to turn fledgling ideas into viable propositions. The students will immerse themselves in lectures workshops and hands-on learning and training experiences in addition to having the opportunity to meet with EBTIC’s own team of researchers innovators and scientists.  The “Bootcamp” was designed to support the initiatives outlined in the UAE’s recently launched National Innovation Strategy which aims to make the UAE one of the world’s most innovative countries.

The “Bootcamp” is being conducted in collaboration with Khalifa University BT and the University College of Dublin (UCD Dublin) and with educational partnership from the UAE Ministry of Education the Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) Applied Technical High Schools (ATHS) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) UAE section. The event also boasts several notable sponsors including the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development and ICT Fund who are platinum sponsors; gold sponsors Emirates Advanced Investments and the Advanced Military Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Center (AMMROC); and silver sponsor Yahsat.
