The institute leadership, headed by Dr Fred. Moavenzadeh, praised the founding Provost for his focus and dedication in steering the institute through its first year of academic operation, saying: “His commitment was an essential component in our successful first year of operations. We are grateful to Dr Perkins for all he has done for us and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Dr. Moavenzadeh formalized his association with Masdar Institute this year after 39 years as director of technology and development at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US. The position of Provost will be appointed by the institute in due course.

EFEF forms part of the Future Energy series of events that includes World Future Energy Summit held annually in Abu Dhabi. Developed by Masdar to drive collaboration and dialogue in Europe around renewable energy policy, investment and innovation, EFEF was launched with great success in 2009 at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre, Spain and saw 3,638 attendees from 43 countries attend.
