KU-KAIST Joint Research Center

Welcome to the Khalifa University – Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KU-KAIST) Joint Research Center! The KU-KAIST Joint Research Center was launched in April 2019 and aims to provide comprehensive support for research projects involving the development of technologies that are shaping the Fourth Industrial Revolution, particularly in the areas of Smart Transportation and Smart Healthcare, across the two campuses.

Two projects linked to Smart Transportation and Smart Healthcare have commenced under the Joint Research Center August 2019. Following the official launch of the KU-KAIST Joint Research Center at KU’s Main Campus in April 2019, the KAIST-KU JRC at the KAIST Daejeon campus was also launched in July 2019. This is the second phase of collaboration following the partnership agreement that was signed in 2010 between the two institutions, which aimed to provide the best science and technology education as well as develop nuclear energy in the UAE. as deepened and strengthened in line with both the UAE’s and South Korea’s strategic goals. The KU-KAIST Joint Research Center underscores the long history and strong bilateral relations between the UAE and South Korea.


Mission

To develop an upgraded strategic partnership between KU and KAIST, and expand practical cooperation for new technologies that can generate high added value in the area of the 4th Industrial Revolution and commercialization into future growth in economy for both countries, UAE and Korea. The joint center is also designed for promoting joint research through human resources exchange such as students, faculties and research staff.

Vision

To provides comprehensive support for not only joint research projects in smart healthcare and smart transportation platforms of the two campuses but also expansion of joint projects for the development of key technologies for the fourth industrial revolution in the future.
