This course covers the fundamentals of nowadays industrial data communication systems, such as field bus foundation, HART, industrial Ethernet, and Profibus, at their different OSI layers.
Topics include various transmission media, modulation/demodulation (AM, FM, PM); signal coding techniques, error detection and corrections. The course also covers many real-world examples of data communication including wired and wireless Local Area Networks (LAN): topologies, Media Access Control (MAC), access techniques, and Wide Area Network (WAN): Introduction to industrial internetprotocols. The course will also tackle modern emerging topics in Industrial data communication such as Internet of Things (IoT), data security, and Quality of Service.

Day2: Overview of Main Protocols for Industrial Communication Systems (Part 1)
Day3: Overview of Main Protocols for Industrial Communication Systems (Part 2)
Day4: Advanced Topics in Communications
Ad hoc networks; machine-to-machine (M2M) communication; wireless sensor networks (WSN); energy harvesting techniques; applications in monitoring, control and diagnostics, practical problems solving session
Day 5: Emerging technologies in Telecommunication
Internet of Things(IoT) , Quality of service (QoS), reliability and security requirements; prioritizing data; failsafe mechanisms, practical problems solving session
