Dr. Tanju Deveci is an Associate Professor of English. He received his Ph.D. in Lifelong Learning in 2011 from Ankara University, Turkey. He holds master’s degrees in Adult Education from Ankara University and in English Language Teaching from the Middle East Technical University, Turkey. He also has a Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA) awarded by Cambridge University. He taught English for academic purposes at Bilkent and Sabanci Universities in Turkey for 15 years. Since 2012, he has been teaching English and academic communication skills at Khalifa University. He has published research and teaching articles on a wide range of topics including academic writing, andragogy, learning styles, and technology-use for instructional purposes. His current research interests include pragmatics with a particular focus on speech acts. He has published book chapters and research articles on a variety of academic literacy skills. He is the author of two books on adult education and lifelong learning. He is the Chief Editor of the International Journal of English for Specific Purposes (IJESP). He has delivered speeches at numerous international conferences in Europe and Asia.
