Associate Professor, Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering

Dr. Yousef Amer is an Associate Professor at the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department. Prior to this, Dr Amer was a Program Director, Research Degree Supervisor and Academic Integrity Officer at the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, University of South Australia (UniSA STEM), 2006-2020.

Dr Amer worked for 18 years in various National and Multinational firms in Australia with research expertise in Artificial Intelligence; Neural fuzzy systems and Fuzzy Logic, Process reengineering, Operations Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management; Modelling, Optimisation and Simulation, Lean Six sigma, Design for Six sigma, Robotics and Sustainable collaborative manufacturing. He has published extensively in international journals and books with over 120 publications.

Among his accolades, he has received the 2020 Academic Excellence; Teaching- UniSA STEM and Future Industries Institute Award for sustained commitment to teaching excellence and best paper awards. Dr Amer has extensive PhD thesis, Master thesis and Final Year Project supervision. Focusing on practice-based learning, student engagement and Teaching-research nexus to ensure his student are at the forefront of their respective fields. Dr Amer collaborates with industry to develop innovative projects and research for students. He fosters student awareness of industrial needs, process and practice and equips them with the tools and techniques to be innovative and adaptive in the changing work environment. He is also a member of Engineers Australia (EA), Australasian Association for Engineering Education, Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS,) IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, IEEE Education Society, and IEEE Control Systems Society. He has been an active International Conference Committee Member for many conferences and Guest Editor/Reviewer of International Journals such as; Information Sciences, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Productivity and Quality Management, IEEE Systems Journal and Springer Publishing.
