Dr. Wael Mohammed Osman holds a degree in Medicine from the University of Khartoum, Sudan, and a PhD in Molecular Pathology from the Human Genome Center, University of Tokyo, Japan; the home of the Biobank Japan Project, and a major collaborator in the Human Genome Project. He also holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research from Harvard Medical School, USA. Current research focuses on the genetics of metabolic traits (type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease) using association analyses and different genome sequence approaches. The genetic basis of developing complications of diabetes, in particular, diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is also under investigation. His research includes analysis of clinical data and integration with genetic studies.
