Biography

Dr. Shahadat Hussain is a researcher and educator specializing in materials science and mechanical engineering. As a Postdoctoral Researcher at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, UAE, he is actively involved in cutting-edge research in Additive Manufacturing (AM) and Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF), with a focus on material characterization, including Microstructural Characterization and Thermal Analysis.

In his current role, he is investigating additively manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures, specifically Schwartz primitive and Schoen gyroid lattices. His commitment to thorough analysis is evident through various techniques such as optical microscopy, SEM, XRD, EDS, metallography, heat treatment, EBSD, and AFM.

With a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences from the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research in Bhopal, India, (2019) his doctoral research explored Cu-Al-Ni shape memory alloys, contributing  SCI articles and conference presentations.

His expertise extends to operating advanced characterization equipment, including SEM, X-ray Diffraction, Optical Microscopy, and Thermal Analysis. Proficient in mechanical testing, metallography, chemical etching, and various fabrication techniques, he also possesses programming skills in Python and holds certifications in database management, 3D modeling, and responsible conduct of research.

Pursuing his teaching interests by completing a 10-week teaching certificate course at Khalifa University in 2023. Prior to his current role, Dr. Hussain served as a Project Fellow at CSIR-Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute, contributing to alloy synthesis through vacuum induction melting technique, metallography, heat treatment, and material characterization. As a lecturer at the Oriental Group of Institutions in Bhopal, India, he taught mechanical engineering subjects and fostered academic excellence through positive student feedback. His teaching areas included Basic Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics of Machines and Engineering Thermodynamics.
