Associate  Professor, Department of Epidemiology and Public Health & Senior Biostatistician

Dr. Abderrahim Oulhaj is an Associate Professor of Biostatistics at the department of Epidemiology and Public Health, College of Medicine and Health Sciences (Khalifa University).  He holds a PhD degree in statistics from the UCL University (2003, Belgium).  Before joining KU, he worked at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) as an Associate Professor of Biostatistics for 8 years and served as the director of the PhD program in public health.  Prior to joining the UAEU, he worked as a senior statistician at the University of Oxford for almost 10 years. During this period, he was the lead statistician for the Oxford Project to Investigate Memory and Ageing (OPTIMA) and the lead statistician for the multinational study ‘EXenatide Study of Cardiovascular Event Lowering (EXSCEL)’ at the Diabetes Trials Unit, University of Oxford (UK).

 Dr. Oulhaj has served in many national and international research committees. He is currently a project leader at the scientific working group of the European Society of Cardiology, Cardiovascular Risk Collaboration Unit. He also has been serving in several UAE national committees including the therapeutic and clinical trials committee, the data safety and monitoring board committee (DSMB) and the Department of Health (DoH) Weqaya screening program consultation group, where he contributed to the  development of two national guidelines in cardiovascular disease prevention.
