Biography

Dr. Bisweswar Ghosh is an Associate Professor of Petroleum Engineering at the Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi (earlier Petroleum Institute), serving for the last 15 years and teaching various Petroleum Engineering courses, supervising Graduate thesis, and conducting research.  

Earlier (2005-07), he served as a full-time consultant for Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Muscat, responsible for developing Petroleum Engineering research center, supervision of sponsored projects, and graduate research. His focus area was water and gas shutoff, formation damage, and flow assurance. 

Prior to that, Dr. Ghosh worked as a senior researcher at the Institute of Oil & Gas Production Technology, an R&D wing of Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) from 1996 to 2005. The research activities were in the area of Water & Gas Shutoff, Well Stimulation, Drilling & Completion Fluid design, and Flow assurance. During this period, the team had successfully completed over 30 large and medium-sized projects. 

Dr. Ghosh commenced his career in the Petroleum Industry with ONGC, India, in May 1985, and the following ten years, he gained rich experience in drilling, field operations, and well services. His performance and innovative approaches were recognized through various awards and merit certificates. 

Dr. Ghosh holds a B.Sc (Honours) in Chemistry from Burdwan University, an M.Sc. in Physical Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), and a Ph.D. in Petroleum Science from the University of Nagpur.  Dr. Ghosh has authored or co-authored about 90  Journal and Conference papers, five patents, and a book chapter, all in the area of the upstream petroleum industry.
