Beginning his aerospace endeavors at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK), Basel attained a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering. During his undergraduate years, he significantly contributed to the first national 3U cubesat mission.
After his graduation, he deepened his involvement at AURAK’s ICONET Center, leading the mechanical team for MEZNSAT and pioneering the innovative Ground Station assembly.
Transitioning to Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi in 2020, Basel took charge of the Yahsat Space Lab’s technical operations. Beyond his management duties, Basel's research delved deeply into space applications. He exhibited a particular focus on thrust solutions, advanced material manufacturing, and the integration and behavior of 2D materials in space environments.
With his diverse expertise spanning multiple cubesat missions reach to 5 missions and a rich portfolio of academic publications, Basel has cemented his position as a leading expert in aerospace engineering and advanced materials.
