The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences is home to faculty with diverse background in genetics capable of meeting the challenges of the rapidly evolving medical school curriculum and educating and training future physician researchers and graduate students. The integrated approach used within the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics across other Departments at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences and other colleges within Khalifa University provides many opportunities for our faculty and students to advance their interdisciplinary, basic and translational, research. Researchers within the department have access to state-of-the-art research facilities and the necessary space to perform innovative research using cutting edge genomics technologies that will undoubtedly lead to fundamental discoveries with clinical applicability.
Mission: The mission of the department is to provide world class education and research training to the future physician researchers of the United Arab Emirates and to contribute to research findings and discoveries that lead to significant improvement of human health.
Vision: Educating future physician researchers in genetics can be most effective through a comprehensive genetic teaching program using interactive, problem-based learning approaches embedded within an Integrated Curriculum Model and a strong research program. A strong interdisciplinary focus with clinical applicability research program using state-of-the art technologies is a major driver of research innovation.
