The Department of Anatomy and Cellular Biology is an integral unit of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) at Khalifa University of Science and Technology (KU). The Department plays an essential role in delivering high-quality Anatomy and Cell Biology content to students enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical Sciences programs. The faculty and staff cover numerous topics and concepts in the anatomical sciences from both basic science and clinical application perspectives through a series of didactic lectures, labs, and case-based instructions using a wide range of state-of-the-art pedagogical tools.
The Department houses one of the world’s largest collection of plastinated specimens displayed in the KU Body Museum. The KU Body Museum was officially opened to the public in April 2023 and serves as an invaluable repository for teaching and learning of the CMHS students as well.
The Faculty, Staff and Researchers in the Department of Anatomy and Cellular Biology are engaged in basic, translational and clinical research in the fields of experimental and comparative neuroscience, musculoskeletal biology and medicine, clinical anatomy, and reproductive and developmental biology. All faculty and staff also contribute to student research projects and provide mentoring to expand their professional advancement.
