Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering

Dr. Firas Jarrar is currently an Assistant Professor at Khalifa University. He has been holding this position since August of 2013. He received his Ph.D. degree with honors in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky in the USA. Prior to joining Khalifa University he worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of Jordan.

His research experience is mainly in the areas of material modeling, finite element simulation, sheet metal forming, and nonlinear vibrations. His industrial experience includes working for the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Co. as a mechanical Engineer for three years. He also did collaborative research with General Motors R&D center while he was pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Jarrar has published a number of papers in various international journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings. He is a reviewer for the Journal of Engineering Materials and Technology and a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
